Fruitless Words

"Just as a flower which seems beautiful and has colour but has no perfume,
so are the fruitless words of the man who speaks them but does them not."

Imprints

Seeking traces of the mind
is like looking for footprints of birds flying in the sky.
They cannot be found,
though intangible karmic imprints exist.

Likewise, when we pass through life,
may we leave no unnecessary traces,
no trail of mental or physical destruction;
only good karmic imprints.

Celestial Poems of Sathya Sai Baba

"As the infant goes on crawling and crawling,
Crying for the mother,
Craving to be clasped by her in her embrace;
As the cow bellows for the calf lost in the flock;
As a woman, separated from her husband, pines away;
As a poor man, bereft of food to feed his belly;
Cries for food fervently;
Come to Swami giving up all
and harvest happiness by calling out 'Sai, Sai'."

2012 Mahasamadhi Day

Dearest Swami.
It is now one year since You left us.
Our hearts still feel the pain when we think of You.
Our eyes still fill with tears when we speak of You.
How we dearly miss You!

Thank You, Swami for loving us,
Thank You, Swami for protecting us,
Thank You, Swami for guiding us,
Thank You, Swami for loving us!

Not the Body

"You identify Sai Baba with the hody.
But I am not the body.
You and I are one."

Bad Mood

Don't think you have a valid excuse for "bad" behaviour when you are moody (in a bad mood). Don't think you can just say something offensive, followed by, "Sorry, I didn't mean that. I'm in a bad mood today." You can't just walk away like that. Do you expect others to understand that and forgive you - again and again when you do it again and again? We can control our moods-we are our master.

Master your Mind
or be
Mastered by Mind.

Not a single angry word slipped out of the Buddha's lips even when the party He was talking to cursed and swore at Him. Nope-no moody blues for He who is ever mindful and is a master of His mind. Don't want any excuse from you again!

Do Not Utter Untruth

"Once a sage was doing penance in quest of Truth. One day, Lord Shiva wanted to test this sage. He came in the guise of a hunter who was chasing a deer. The deer passed through the place where the sage was seated.

A little while later, the hunter approached the sage and asked him whether he had seen the deer that passed in that direction. The sage was in a dilemma. If he spoke the truth, the deer would be slain by the hunter. If he did not speak the truth, he will be infringing the code of conduct. So he prayed to the Lord to show him the correct path to save him in such a situation.

Suddenly vibration occurred in his mind and he told the hunter:

"The eyes see something. But they can't speak.
The tongue speaks but cannot see.
Under these circumstances what can I say?"

Lord Shiva appeared before him in his true form and blessed him with liberation.

So you should not utter untruth simply to escape a situation. If there is difficulty, be silent."

This I Believe

Yes, I believe that earth is charged with God;
And I believe that God is everywhere;
And I believe that there is nothing bare of God;
That He is dreaming in the sod;
That He is spilling fragrance to flowers;
That He is motionful in birds and beasts;
And He is worshipful in nuns and priests
\Who chant the hymns and sanctify His hours.

God's Grace

"For receiving God's grace,
there is no distinction such as
an animal, a bird or any other creature.
Wherever there is devotion,
there God's presence can be experienced."

Lord, Dear God

Lord, Dear God, pour Your love in my heart
Pour Your love from today, pour Your love all the way
From my heart, let it flow. fill the world with its glow

The Real Meaning of Moksha

"What is the real meaning of Moksha?
(Moha Kshaya (removal of attachment) is Moksha (liberation).
So long as one has attachment, one cannot think of liberation."

Celestial Poems of Sathya Sai Baba

"Education has become diverse,
Desires have crossed all limits.
One is a "hero" in words but a "zero" in actions.
Of what use is intelligence unless one puts it into practice?"

What Truth?

What Truth to seek
when you lie.

Everyday,
You smile and say yes to an invitation you do not want.
You say no to a piece of cake which you want.
You cower when something wrong is going on.
You dare not speak up,
and so on and on...

The Donkey's Thirst

Adore the God that is resident in all, motivating them and prompting their every activity.

Ekanath, the Maharasthra saint, had that vision. He was going on a pilgrimage to Rameswaram, in the extreme south of India, from Varanasi in the north, carrying the sacred Ganga in a pot, to be poured ceremoniously on the Ramalingeswara idol at the palace. His disciples were with him.

On the way, he saw a donkey dying of thirst and in great agony. Ekanath felt that the Ramalingeswara in the donkey was calling out for the holy Ganga that he was carrying on his shoulder. In spite of the protests of his followers, he poured the precious Ganga down the throat of the dying animal and saved it.

His joy knew no bounds. God is the seed of all this manifested universe.

Discourses of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba)
