Celestial Poems of Sathya Sai Baba

"You were sons of immortality when you were born
but poison filled you to the full
when worldly and sensual pleasures entered into you.
The word of Sai is the source of all sacred scriptures."

Not Live in Vain

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life the aching
Or cool the pain,
Or help the fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

The Bandit

Buddha was once threatened with death by a bandit called Angulimal.
"Then be good enough to fulfill my dying wish," said Buddha. "Cut off the branch of that tree."

One slash of the sword, and it was done!
 "What now?" asked the bandit.
"Put it back again," said Buddha.
The bandit laughed. "You must be crazy to think that anyone can do that."
"On the contrary, it is you who are crazy to think that you are mighty
because you can wound and destroy. That is the task of children.
The mighty know how to create and heal."

The Frog

When Rama, Sita and Lakshamana were roving among the hills and dales of Dandakaraya,Rama one day moved towards the bank of a clear, blue lake.  While stepping down the bank, Rama put his foot on a little frog which suffered great pain but remained mute.

Rama felt pity at the poor creature's plight and asked the frog why it did not cry out in protest.  The frog replied, "Whenever I get into trouble or have fear from foes, I cry out, "Rama!  Rama!" but when Rama himself is causing me pain, whom am I to appeal to?"

Celestial Poems of Sathya Sai Baba

"Charity is the ornament for the hand.
Truth is the ornament for the throat.
Listening to sacred texts is the ornament for the ear.
Of what use are all other jewels?"

Quotable Quotes

"If you knew what I know about the power of giving,
you would not let a single meal pass
without sharing it in some way."

Practice

"Teachers should practise before they preach.
Be good, do good, see good and tell good.
Practice speaks louder than precepts."

Shakti is Above All

Once Narada was asked to name the most noteworthy among the things of the world.  He answered that the Earth was the biggest.  But he was told that Water has occupied three-fourths of the Earth; it threatens to swallow up the balance too, bit by bit.  So Water, he had to agree, was more powerful.

However, Water too was drunk up by the sage, Agasthya and the oceans were rendered dry by him, and he in turn is now just a star in the sky!  Is the sky the biggest then?  No, for it was covered by one single foot of the Vamana-avathara of the Lord.

And the Lord?  O He enters the hearts of the devotees and resides there.  So Narada had to conclude that the hearts of bhaktas are the grandest things in creation!

Quotable Quotes

"Let us rise up and be thankful,
for if we don't learn a lot today,
at least we learned a little;
And if we didn't learn a little,
at least we didn't get sick;
And if we got sick,
at least we didn't die;
So let us all be thankful."

Celestial Poems of Sathya Sai Baba

"Even when you wallow in wealth,
When you travel in costly vehicles,
Though they call you a crazy one,
Though the elders praise you lavishly,
Never forget God, O man!
Never leave His divine name."

~ Sri Sathya Sai Baba ~

Spiritualism

It is an open door where others close,
A smiling face that says He knows.
A peacefulness that draws you near,
An open heart and a listening ear.

It's a brilliant star from a long lost age,
That helps to turn each bright new page.
It's lovingness that comes from within,
That brings us forth when it is time to begin.

To send our light both far and near,
To seek, to learn, to tell, to hear.
To find the peace and state of mind,
We'd long thought man has left behind.

And with this knowingness inside,
There's nowhere else for us to hide,
But take our worth and thank in Grace,
To try and heal this Earth, our place.

And should we stray along our path,
Sai's hand will guide us to the task.
So never fear it shall be done
In Peace and Love and Light we pass.
Amen.

You Mean Everything to Me

You are the answer to my lonely prayer
You are the Lord come from above
I was so lonely till You came to me
With the wonder of Your love ...
I don't know how I ever lived before
You are my life, my destiny
Oh my Baba I love You so
You mean everything to me

The Heart and the Mirror

"A mirror though clean may not reflect your image
if it is not having the mercury coating behind it.
So also the heart may be pure but
there should be a coating of love behind it
to facilitate reflection of God."

He is the Doer

I have a big poster of Swami next to the desk where my computer is.  I have several times felt Swami's presence when I'm doing work on the computer.  I manage three blogs, one of which is this one, Divine Blossoms and I believe He is the one who gives me ideas or helps me choose topics to post.  Whenever I write for my other two blogs (which are personal views and experiences and one about a cat!), the words seem to flow and ideas just pop out.  If I should get stuck, I just turn, look at Swami and say, "Help, Swami!". It always works!

Swami, You are the doer and I'm just the instrument.

Thank You and Jai Sai Ram!!

God's voice can be heard."

If It Is Not Truthful ...

"If it is not truthful and not helpful, don't say it.
If it is truthful and not helpful, don't say it.
If it is not truthful and helpful, don't say it.
If it is truthful and helpful, wait for the right time."

~ Buddha ~
