Celestial Poems of Sathya Sai Baba

"The moon illumines the world in the night;
The sun illumines the world in the day.
It is Dharma that illumines the three worlds;
It is a virtuous son who illumines the entire lineage."

What Will I Do When The Form is Gone?

Oh, Lord, I know someday
You will take Your loving form away.
What will I do when the form is gone?
Grant me the wisdom to carry on
With devotion - not emotion.

Oh, Lord, I realize
You are always with me deep inside.
How can we ever be apart?
You are the one who fills my heart
With devotion - not emotion.

Journey of Life

In this journey of life
You travel on a pilgrimage
From being human to becoming God.
On a road that you are free to choose,
One that may be full of stops, thorns and obstacles,
And another in which you have no worries.
Only travel!
The first path is that of the mind and intellect.
The second is that of total surrender to God.
Your body is the chariot.
That is balanced on the four wheels
Of truth, righteousness, peace and love.
The self is the charioteer that holds the reins.
The five horses are your senses
That are controlled by the self.
If the self loses control,
The horses lose their sense of direction.
Even if one of the wheels loses its balance.
The chariot falls apart and
The charioteer loses its mode of transport.
To reach your destination of self-realisation,
The body must be taken care of.
And must be considered
Only as a mode of transport.
You must not confuse your identity with the body,
The mind and body must be kept in balance.
With the four wheels
Of truth, righteousness, love and peace,
The driving force must be the strength of the self,
And not by the senses,
That will only mislead you and delude you.
Your goal must be one pointed,
To find Me and reach Me,
There will be no body,
No mind, no intellect, no senses,
Only the real Me, coming back to Me!

Celestial Poems of Sathya Sai Baba

"Most wonderful and mysterious
Sanctifying even the three worlds,
Most liberating and ennobling
Elevating even the sages and seers,
Are the tales of the Lord."

Banish All Worries

"I am ready to give you all happiness.
Are you prepared to receive what I have to offer?
Banish all worries.
They are temporary like passing clouds.
Do not allow any one - whether it is the father,
mother or the preceptor - to come between you
and your duty to God."

when it is essential to awaken.
That time is now."

Celestial Poems of Sathya Sai Baba

"Whoever cultivates the crop of love
In the field of his heart,
He is a true Christian, Sikh, Hindu and Muslim;
He indeed is a true human being on this earth."

Even This Shall Pass Away

When Dharmaraja was in exile in the forest, Krishna visited him in his retreat and they talked for long on the vicissitudes of fortune and the effect of Karma and Dharma.  Dharmaraja asked Krishna to give him some Upadesh or Formula which he can keep in memory and which will sustain him during the ups and downs of fortune.  Krishna wrote a few words on a piece of paper and told him to look into it and read it, only when he becomes really desperate.

Later he opened the precious paper and found found the advice.  The Upadesh was "Even this shall pass away".  It meant "Why worry about this passing show?  Put up with the good fortune as well as bad, knowing that both are transient."

Krishna Janmashtami 2012

"The great teaching of the Geetha is: "Put your trust in God, carry on your duties, be helpful to
everyone and sanctify your lives." Dedicate all actions to God. That is the way to experience
oneness with God. God is in you. You are in God. This oneness is the basic truth. Chant the
name of the Lord and render social service in a spirit of selflessness and devotion to God."

Cherish the Heart

"Cherish the heart as the temple of God
and try to keep it pure and unsullied.
Chant the name of the Lord to drive away
all evil thoughts and impulses."

Celestial Poems of Sathya Sai Baba

"We must regard pain and pleasure in equal measure.
We should not differentiate poverty and prosperity.
Fame and infamy do not exist apart.
True devotion lies in treating them in equal measure."

Nature's Cathedral

I do not need a church to pray.  No bricks and mortar, piles of clay.  No altar table, cloth of white, no golden chalice, no candlelight.  Carpeted aisles with curved pews flanked.  Don't make my prayers more sacrosanct.

For God is with me everyday in every place - in every way.  Through relaxation and through chore He is before me evermore.  The whole world is the church of God, from the tallest tree to the greenest sod.  The trees and mountains form the walls.  The flowers and green grass deck the halls.  White clouds on high the altar set; Sun's rays, feeding life, the chalice yet.  No candles but when falls the night, profusion of stars to lend their light.

God is in your Heart

God is in your heart.  Wherever you go and whatever you do,
it is known to God even if you think none has noticed it.
People start worrying about petty temporary things
which are passing clouds and sometimes falter in faith and devotion.
This is not correct.  You should never give up devotion.
Your good work will beget God's grace without fail.
Sin or merit comes only from your own deeds, not from outside."
