A Bowl of Noodles

A teenager had a fight with his mother and left home in a huff, feeling very angry with her.  As he had left in the haste of the moment, he did not bring any money with him.  He could not find any friends either, so he had nothing to eat by dinner time.

At this point, the teenager passed by a noodle stall.  The smell of the noodles invoked pangs of hunger in him.  The boss of the stall found him lingering around and asked, "Do you want some noodles?  Come sit over here!"

The boy replied the boss, "But I have no money."

The boss smiled, "It is all right.  A bowl of noodles doesn't cost much.  Let me give you a treat."

When the noodles were served, the teenager was touched.  "Sir, you are such a kind man, unlike my mother.  She doesn't understand how I feel or what I need."

The boss looked at him and smiled, "I have only given you a bowl of noodles and you are so appreciative.  Your mother not only gave you your life but has been cooking for you for the past ten over years.  Why aren't you grateful to her at all?"

The boy was struck by what he heard.  He thanked the boss in a hurry and ran straight home.  When he arrived, he saw his mother standing at the door waiting for him anxiously.  His angry mother scolded him when she saw him, "You silly boy!  Where have you been the whole day?  Go wash up and eat your dinner!"

Mother's usual nagging sounded like the beautiful voice of an angel to the boy now.  He had come to realise that his mother is the one who loves him the most on earth.
