Students often seek blessings from Bhagawan during
their birthday occasions. They would be carrying trays containing yellow
rice, dry grapes, cardamom, cloves etc. and often Bhagawan would take a
small bit of clove to slip the piece into His mouth.
How many of us
really know the significance of this blessed aromatic dried flower bud
that is synonymous with auspiciousness? Rita Bruce writes about her
perceptions on the significance of the clove as directed by
Bhagawan in her book "Love of Conscience".
"Sai Baba dropped a clove on this
manuscript during darshan. That night I silently asked “Why the clove?”
He replied within, “The stem of the clove is symbolic of the root, the
Divine source of all energy, which is God. This root source splits into
the four prongs that represent the four energies, four pillars, four
corners on which the world sits. The round ball in the middle of the
clove is symbolic of the world. These four energies support the world.
The very meaning of the word clove is c-love. C-LOVE means Conscious
Love."
