In 1980, when the college and hostel came up at Prasanthi Nilayam, there arose the need for more water sources. It was decided to sink one or more borewells on the bed of the Chitravathi river. Experts who came from Tirupati, surveyed the place and located some spots for a bore well.
When Kutumba Rao reported this to Swami, Swami came to the site and saw the location. He picked up a pebble, threw it a long way and said, "Drill the bore well wherever the pebble lands."
Abundant quantity of sweet water was found when the bore well was sunk at that spot and the experts certified that both the quantity and the quality of the water found there was beyond their expectations!
