Hounded by Gypsies

Nalini, while in Italy, was to meet two ladies in Bologna.  She had to take a particular train from Milano Station to go to Bologna.  There was such a rush at the station that she had to struggle to get her ticket.  After purchasing the first class ticket, she carefully put her wallet into her handbag and closed the zip.

As she started to move towards the platform, she was surrounded by a group of Yugoslavian gypsies carrying small babies and loudly begging for money.  They began to heckle her, tug at her clothes and hands and would not let her to move an inch forward.  And there was no policeman in sight.  Nalini was frightened and called out to Swami to help her get on the train.  Immediately a tall gentleman in white appeared and with an authoritative manner spoke loudly and chased them away.  He smiled and asked her to follow him.  He spoke flawless English.  Nalini simply obeyed and he escorted her to the train, put her suitcase in and even helped her to get in.  She turned round to thank him but he was nowhere in sight.

She realised it could only be Swami.  Her prayer to Him was to help her get on the train and he did that.  Nobody else could have driven away the gypsies and nobody else could have known her destination, the platform, the train or the carriage to lead her there.  Throughout the journey she wept in gratitude.  Later she discovered that her handbag was neatly slit and her wallet taken away.  But it did not matter, Swami was with her.

Who can be against us, if God be with us?
