"Baba told me once, at Puttaparthi, "That Thursday bhajans in your home (at Davangere), give Me an hour of ear-ache." I knew that I was not blessed by a mellow voice, it comes off pretty squeaky, like a cheap whittle. So I sang the bhajans only to myself, silently. I told Baba, I do not join the group. He said, "Not you, who is that neighbour coming every Thursday? Ask him not to raise his voice. It is so grating ..." How can I ever delineate in words a phenomenon, of whom the scriptures say, "From whom the words recoil, whom the mind cannot reach ...?" He is present wherever I am and you are!
(As narrated by Prof. N. Kasturi in his book "Loving God")
