You do not have any necklace around your neck at birth,
You do not have a necklace of pearls,
Nor a necklace of gold around your neck.
You do not have a necklace studded with precious stones;
Neither do you have one of emeralds, diamonds and topaz.
But you have one necklace around your neck -
Choosing carefully, neither adding nor subtracting
All the good and bad you have performed,
The Lord sends you to this world with a heavy garland -
A garland made of all your past actions strung together.
