Talkative

"I suffer from a chronic itch on the tongue, which craves for conversation.  The nickname, "Ply-mouth" which Baba has given me, has not cured me completely.

A few months ago, He found me excitedly relating to a doctor from Gujarat all about Baba's grace, which pulled me out alive from a hospital ward.  I was on a chair in one of the inner rooms of Bhagawan's college, awaiting the chance of touching the Lotus Feet.  The doctor has seen me afar and could not resist the temptation of wishing me well, for he had been away in his own state for long.

I was knee deep in my story when Baba came in, "Breaking the sadhana of silence so blatantly!  How can you elders enforce the rule on the young when you break it right before them?"  He ushered the doctor out.  I was convalescing and so was spared.  He ridiculed my friend as a fool and me as a donkey.  We hung our heads in shame.  We warned ourselves against any repetition of the misdemeanor.  We were silent for hours thereafter.  And Baba held us both before the young men in the room, as examples of how not to be."

(As narrated by Prof. N. Kasturi in "Loving God")
