Some people might be wondering why this Avathar? Howard Murphet has written that to describe Swami is like trying to put an ocean in an ink bottle!
Once, when we were sitting on a sea shore, Murphet looked at Swami and said “Swami, why have you taken all the trouble of coming down to reform the world and suffer with us? Could you not have reformed the world from heaven itself? He asked out of compassion for Swami.
Swami said, “Oh! I could have done it from there itself, not that I could not do it. But how can I give you the joy of meeting Me, seeing Me? How could I give you this pleasure? That is why I have come. You have yearned for it, you have earned it, therefore I have come."
Somehow He has chosen all of us as His instruments and therefore we must know something about the task for which He has come. That is what He communicated that day in Poornachandra Hall. He said some four or five tasks for which He has come, in that poem, and the first line was, “Avatharinchenu Achutudu Puttaparthiyandu.” “Achutudu” the indestructible, the undiminishable, the irreducible, the vast, limitless, uncontainable Cosmic Consciousness came in human form to Puttaparthi. For what purpose? To restore Dharma."
