Manasa Bhajare Gurucharanam

What is the simple meaning of

Maanasa bhajare gurucharanam

Dustara bhava saagara taranam?

‘’Meditate in thy mind on the Feet of the Guru that can take you across the difficult sea of Samsara.’’

During Darshan, the student kept on looking at Swami’s Feet as He moved along. At this, Swami thought that there was something wrong with the boy. He came close to him and asked, ‘’What is wrong?’’ The boy replied, "Swami, I am looking at your Feet’’.

‘’Why so?’’ Swami asked.

The boy replied, ‘’My relation told me to’’.

Then Swami said, ‘’He is a fool and you are a double fool’’.

Then Swami said an important thing, ‘’Every inch of this Body, top to toe, is important’’…..

Therefore, Bhagawan instructed that boy, ‘’No, don’t only look at the Feet. You have to look at the whole Form of God’’.

This I am sure will provide a guideline for all of us, who may be entertaining such whimsical ideas.

The boy countered, with one of Baba’s Bhajan, Manasa Bhajare Guru Charanam meaning "Let the mind concentrate on the Feet of the Lord".  Then why do you ask us to look at the Whole Form?’’

Bhagawan replied, ‘’For Darshan you should see the whole body. For Dhyana, concentrate on the Feet."

Therefore, meditate on the Feet of the Lord and during Darshan let us behold the Poornavatar.
