Surrender

"Surrender does not mean that the devotee and God are different.  True surrender implies the sense of oneness with God.  "Without you I cannot exist," should be the attitude of the devotee.  This was the feeling which the Gopikas expressed about Krishna.

The love of the Gopikas was pure and sacred.  This is exemplified by the story of Suguna, who was completely lost in thinking about Krishna that she was not conscious of her fingers being burnt while she was getting her lamp lighted in Yasoda's house.  When Yasoda asked her what had happened to her, she said that she was seeing the charming face of Krishna in the flame of the lamp."
