Roots of Wisdom - Our Own Worst Enemy

Time is, by its nature, long.

But the preoccupied man hurries along of his own.

Heaven and earth are by their nature, expansive.

But the mean of heart is naturally narrow.

The seasons' breezes, flowers, snow and moon are, by nature, tranquil.

But the man who toils and fusses is afflicted of his own free will.

One who is full of desires makes his mind a slave to bodily pleasures.

Is fame and wealth all there is to life?
