"Baba's constant exhortation is "Be Happy! Be Happy!" On hearing any news about what the college boys have done, He will repeat, "Oh, happy, happy". Swami is always happy and He always wants us to be happy too. This is simply because we are unhappy. We are unhappy, wanting what we do not have and we find happiness in unhappiness! There are people who are unhappy in spite of having all the trappings of life. Why so? They seek happiness in unhappiness.
Even when people come to Prasanthi Nilayam, they complain that Bhagawan did not look at them. As long as we find happiness in unhappiness, we will continue to be miserable. Nobody can help us then. It is important to learn how to be happy.
How to be happy? First of all, let us realise that we have no reason to be unhappy. When we are in Prasanthi Nilayam, we are amongst the fortunate few (out of millions) to be right in the Presence of Divinity watching Bhagawan and listening to the melody of His words. What better fortune could there be in this world? What greater benefits and blessings could there be? Hence we have no reason to be unhappy.
In fact, we are happiness itself and the very personification of joy and the embodiment of bliss. Unfortunately, unhappiness seems to be more "profitable" to us and we are more at home in sorrow and pain."
