Birds are Free from the Shackles of Bondage

"Another point made by Baba: no bird thinks of tomorrow.  A bird will have enough to eat for the day.  It will not think of tomorrow.  It has no fixed deposits, exchange values or inflation to worry about.  All birds are happy - they fly freely across the sky.  We think of freedom when we watch the birds and their fluttering wings enjoying the breeze and life giving freedom, free from the shackles of bondage.

In this context, Baba tells us that every tree is ready to offer shelter to anyone who comes under its shade.  But humans are not ready to share anything with anybody.  In every aspect of life, we are possessive about anything and everything - we are full of the sense of "mine" and "me", like "this water is mine" and "this land is mine."  The trees are not noticed doing this.  They are ready to give fruits they bear.  They are ready to give shelter."
