Human Life is a Zoo of Qualities

"Baba has also made an interesting point in a different context and in His own inimitable style brings out something new - there is never any repetition!  It speaks of the characteristics of living entities, e.g. a buffalo is known for its laziness; the monkey is known for its restlessness; the cheetah for its pride; the snake for its vengeance.  The snake is known to emit poison.  Thus, each animal has one particular quality of its own.  But human life has become almost like a zoo, including all the creatures!  A snake can cause snake poisoning because of its quality.  A he-buffalo has its own "he-buffalo quality".  But this he-buffalo has a zoo or more of qualities!  A little self-introspection will reveal this point, according to Bhagawan.

At another time, He said that the crow sits on the wall crowing "kavu kavu, kavu".  What does it mean?  "Kavu" means "denial".  Our position, property and influence are just "kavu" and do not belong to us - none of these will come to our rescue.  "Kavu" also means "protect".  "Kavumu" means "protect me".  So the crow tells us two important messages.  First, nothing belongs to us and the second lesson is to look to the Lord as the only refuge.  He should come to our rescue.

We also hear the calves and cows.  They go on repeating "Amba, Amba".  "Amba" means mother. So the calf and the cow tell us to repeat God's Name as the Divine Mother for all safety and security.  The parrot, if it is trained, can repeat continuously, "Ram, Ram, Ram".  And the sheep goes on repeating  the word " Baba".  So, says Baba, the crow, the calf and the cow all know what to say and are aware what to declare.  But it is only the human being who lacks discrimination in speech - how to speak and what not to say.  Therefore, the time has come to remind man who he is, what he should be and what his life's ambition should be."
