Sathya Upanishad - Pt. 11

Inflation

Q11  What is the reason for the current steep rise in prices, falling value of the Rupee and exploding inflation?

A:  Consider this case - the cost of a square yard of a site in a crowded city is much higher than that in the wilderness.  This difference in the value of the site is not due to its intrinsic worth but due to its location amidst human habitation.  This means human life is more valuable than the whole wealth of the world.  Gold acquires its value only because man purchases it.  However, while thus increasing the relative values of objects, man has eroded his own value.  As a corollary, if man increases his own value, the value of the objects, their prices do fall relatively.  In other words, human value and values of commodities are inversely proportional.  Thus man should strive to increase human values to combat and bring down the prices of commodities.
