Fervent Prayers from the Heart

Once we had prepared a variety of dishes to celebrate the ear boring ceremony of our daughter, Sai Leela and eagerly expected Baba to partake of them.

However, time passed on and Baba did not turn up.  We also did not eat.  Baba had sat for lunch at Karnam Subbamma's house as usual but suddenly He got up, evidently drawn by our fervent prayers and heart-felt longing.  He arrived at the Mandir, ate what we offered Him and presented us with laddus He materialised on the spot.

After we finished our lunch, He called my brother's family and some other devotees and gave a small lecture.

He said, "King Dasaratha did not have a child for a long time and could get children only after the performance of a great yaagaa (sacrifice).  Now what kind of yaagaa was done for the birth of Sai Leela?  In this age of Kali, unshaken faith, honesty truthfulness, bhakti (devotion) and absence of selfish worldly desires constitute the sacrifice.  Any one who has these is dear to Me, irrespective of his caste, religion, wealth and power.  I care only for his inner character.  When that is good, I watch over him night and day and consider his pleasures and pains as My own."

(From the book "Nectarine Leelas" by R. Balapattabi)
