Swami was speaking in Bombay, after returning from Africa, with Dr.K.M.Munshi in the chair. I was at the far end of the platform translating his speech.
Swami said, “I am surprised that you are celebrating the occasion of my visit to Africa. My going to America or Africa is not so important. I am only going from one room of my mansion to another.” “Prapanchame na illu.” He said. I translated it as “The world is my mansion .”
Swami turned towards me and said, ‘No!’ I didn’t know what happened. He said ’No!’ a second time. He was coming towards me with His fingers pointing towards me. I thought I have not heard Him properly, or I have committed some sacrilege, and I will be pushed out of the dais, perhaps the end of my career! He is going to give me some ‘Prasadam’, I don’t know what! I could not wait until He came.
I went towards Him, and we met in the center of the dais. He said, “No! Not world, but universe. He said ‘Prapancha’ which means wherever there are five elements, soil, water, fire, air and space. It is called parpancha, which means Universe. So, He said, “Universe is my mansion!” What a great moment! What a tremendous revelation! How fortunate to stand before a phenomena at that moment, which was declaring cosmos as His mansion!
I don’t know what happened to me. I must have fallen at His feet, because the moment was so important. Swami said “Yeh, leyi, leyi” “Yeh, get up, get up” and pulled me up by the shoulder and helped me go towards the mike. Imagine! Fifty thousand people, happy because Swami had come back from Africa, Dr.Munshi in the chair, Swami declaring cosmos is my mansion. A great revelation and excitement!
